Shoreline High School "Class of 1965"

45th Reunion is here! Saturday,

 August 21, 2010, 2:30pm-7:30pm

It's a picnic at Richmond Beach.

Hi everyone!  We recently held an impromptu mini-reunion committee meeting (the core group that always seems to show up) and decided that while we DO want to have a 45 year get-together, we want it to be a simple and free event that requires the least possible amount of work for the committee – just time for everyone to have fun and visit – we’re saving the big guns for the 50th.  We WILL be asking for voluntary donations during the event to put toward a 50th reunion and are hoping that people will come prepared with a bit of cash or a checkbook so that we can recoup what is spent on this gathering and add to our “kitty” to defray the start-up costs for the 50th.

So, we’re going to have a picnic!  We have reserved the date, August 21, 2010, and the place (the newly beautified Richmond Beach Park).  We’ll be gathering from 2:30 to 7:30 pm (which is when the park makes us vacate so we don’t get locked in) at the Upper Shelter.

The committee will allocate funds for the basic supplies such as charcoal briquettes for the BBQs, paper plates, cups, napkins, table cloths and plastic silverware (and the cost of any snail mail we have to send to publicize the event).  If the attendees want to have a picnic during the festivities, or want to have anything to drink (no liquor in the park) then they will be each be responsible for bringing all their own food and beverage and they may want to bring a lawn chair or two or a picnic blanket.  There are a number of BBQs in the shelter area for those that want to use them.

Check out the Shoreline park website:  http://www.shorelinewa.gov/index.aspx?page=136 , remember, we’ve reserved the upper shelter.  You won’t believe how it has changed, but it is still OUR beach.  Attached are a couple of pictures that Terry Gemmill shot today of the site.  He’ll be taking a few shots on the first sunny day so we can add them to our website.  Here is the info on the facility:

Richmond Beach Saltwater Park Upper Shelter at 2021 NW 190th Street
A large plaza and shelter features a panoramic view of Puget Sound, restrooms and children’s play equipment nearby. There is also water access, one 15-amp outlet for electricity and easy access for equipment and guests. It is a moderate walk to access the beach. The shelter has five fixed tables under the shelter and seven fixed tables in the plaza area. Charcoal cooking grills are available in the plaza area and under the shelter.

The only help we are asking from classmates is that you PLEASE:

·         Update your contact information using this site or by emailing me if there have been changes since the last reunion (we especially request current email address)

·         Email me with any updated fellow classmates’ info (email/address/phone number).  We’d love it if we had email addresses for everyone – less expense and time

·         Start thinking about any memorabilia you may want to bring along

·         PLEASE notify us if you know of any classmates who passed away during the last five years, etc.

·         Of course be sure to notify other classmates that you are still in contact with to reserve the date

·         And be sure you plan to attend

We’ll also be advertising through Classmates.com and Facebook.com.  If you use Facebook, we have a group there also (which we encourage you to join) called (strangely enough) Shoreline High School Class of 1965:

If you want to be included in any reunion committee meetings we may have before the event (there shouldn’t need to be very many), please let me know.

Thanks, and SEE YOU THERE!
